CPAmerica's Lead Team is responsible for directing the creation, development and implementation of all CPAConnect-approved services, programs and products.
Alan Deichler
President
Alan Deichler is the president of CPAmerica and oversees the association's growth and development. Prior to being named CPAmerica president, Deichler was most recently chief marketing officer at talent management software provider HRsmart in Richardson, Texas, where he headed worldwide sales and marketing efforts.
Deichler has more than 35 years of corporate experience, having held previous management and executive positions with Capital Formation Counselors, Inc., IBM and Ernst & Young, LLP. He holds a bachelor's degree in management from Jacksonville University.
Douglas H. Thompson, Jr.
Immediate Past President
In 1982, Douglas Thompson, Jr., CPA, was named president and CEO of the accounting association that would become CPAmerica International. Under his leadership, CPAmerica has grown from a small group of CPA firms looking for direction to one of the largest associations of independent CPA firms in the world.
Thompson's current duties include consulting with association firms on practice management, succession planning and compensation matters.
Kathy McDonald
Executive Vice President
Executive vice president Kathy McDonald is responsible for planning and supervising daily operations at CPAmerica. She provides oversight for conferences, committees, training, member development, member services, review programs and all other CPAmerica programs and services. She also assists the president with entrepreneurial association matters.
McDonald holds a master's degree in communication and graduated with highest honors from Michigan State University. Prior to joining CPAmerica in 1986, she served as curriculum developer and instructor with the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and as director for victimless crime research with the State of Michigan Governor's Office. She also taught high school English, communication and debate.
Ernest Moyer
Director of Member Services
Ernie Moyer serves CPAmerica as the Director of Member Services, primarily responsible for CPAConnect. In addition, he handles member services for CPAmerica through the REACH program.
Prior to joining CPAmerica, Moyer had an interesting and varied business career, serving as both a bank vice president in commercial lending and as president and co-founder of a large environmental engineering and manufacturing company. For the past 20 years, he has been a business and financial advisor to early-stage technology companies.
Moyer holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Florida State University and a master's degree in banking from Louisiana State University’s Graduate School of Banking.
Bill Thompson
Chief Financial Officer
Bill Thompson is the chief financial officer of CPAmerica. He supervises the accounting staff and office support staff.
A graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in accounting, Thompson has been a CPA since 1982. He holds a Series 7 securities license and is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU). Thompson has been with CPAmerica since 1993. Previously, he was a manager level CPA for Bella Hermida Gillman & Co. before assuming the CFO position for a hotel/restaurant management company.
Judy Moore
Publications Director
As publications director, Judy Moore heads CPAmerica's creative team of editors and graphic designers who produce more than 60 national print and online newsletters each quarter. The department also has created nearly 70 client brochures, national advertising campaigns, seminars, online publications and a variety of directories, catalogs and other business publications for the members and clients of CPAmerica and CPAConnect.
Before joining CPAmerica in 1993, Moore worked for several years as a newspaper reporter and business editor, magazine feature writer, college journalism professor and publications manager. She has won several regional and national awards for her writing. A former tennis professional, she was also a longtime tennis writer for newspapers and magazines. She holds a bachelor's degree in business from Florida State University and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Florida.
Suzanne M. Csik
Marketing Consultant
Suzanne Csik has been CPAmerica's marketing consultant since 1994. Based in Montreal, Canada, she travels between CPAmerica's Florida headquarters and member firms around the country. She provides firms with strategic marketing consultations on a remote and on-site basis. A frequent writer and lecturer on marketing topics, she also gives marketing assistance to CPAConnect firms.
Ms. Csik is a graduate of Montreal's Concordia University, is bilingual and holds a bachelor's degree in urban planning as well as a certificate in accounting. Prior to joining CPAmerica, she worked for a Montreal accounting firm, providing marketing direction to 30 partners. She later served for six years as director of marketing and public relations with Ernst & Young in Montreal.

Ellen Donovan
Member Services Representative (CPAConnect)
Ms. Donovan works with existing CPAConnect member firms and also focuses on member development. She is also a REACH program member services representative for CPAConnect firms.
A native of South Florida, she has an extensive background in sales, marketing and finance. She previously worked for Essex Credit as a representative financing yachts. Ellen also was a professional singer traveling across the country and working for Carnival Cruise Lines.
