DMJ & Co., PLLC’s Durham Office Moves to Renovated Shannon Road Office Suite

DURHAM, NC  - DMJ & Co., PLLC (DMJ), a U.S. Top 300 North Carolina CPA and accounting firm, is pleased to announce that the firm’s Durham, North Carolina office has relocated to the professional office building, SouthCourt, located at 3211 Shannon Road. DMJ will occupy more than 8,800 square feet on the building’s second floor. The newly renovated office was designed to the firm’s specifications and includes private workspace for nearly thirty professionals. DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC, the wealth management partner of DMJ, will also maintain office and conference space for its advisors and client meetings.

The firm’s office features a renovated floor plan with a modern design and feel. The space includes several areas for both private and open office space, including a collaborative corner for team meetings and conference spaces for small and large gatherings. A centralized processing room accounts for workflow needs and is accessible for the assembly of tax returns, financial documents, and other client needs.

The renovated conference rooms include both technology and audio integrations, especially for interoffice collaboration among DMJ multi-office locations and virtual client conferences. In that spirit, the firm celebrates its statewide presence as each of the four conference spaces are dedicated to a North Carolina region that is home to a DMJ office. With DMJ offices in Greensboro, Durham, Sanford, and Wilmington, the conference rooms are subsequently named: The Triad, Triangle, Sandhills, and Coastal Cape Fear Meeting Rooms.

The firm’s move accommodates plans for future growth and the belief that the Triangle is among the best positioned to respond to the current challenges. “As DMJ continues to grow and offer more services in the Durham and Triangle region, it was important that we identify a location that suited the needs of our clients and our team,” said Durham Partner, Susan Miller, CPA. “While our move may be less than two miles away, we are excited to call our new fresh space home.”

DMJ sought to retain the familiarity of the University Drive area and that of its former location at 3620 Shannon Road, but needed a more unified office space for its growing team. SouthCourt was an especially attractive location because of the easy access to I-40 and NC Hwy-147, and just 3.5 miles to Duke University. It is also adjacent to University Hill, a new 300,000 square feet of mixed-use development.

After identifying the location in 2019, the project remained on time and deadline. Project team members adjusted quickly to moving weekly progress calls virtually and workplace guidelines were outlined for essential crewmembers. The property is owned and managed by Trinity Partners.

DMJ expanded into Durham in 2016 with the merger and acquisition of Hutchings & Hutchings Certified Public Accountants. The practice continued to grow with a focus on tax compliance and tax planning, and developing strong relationships among industry leaders and individuals, including physicians and healthcare professionals, professional services, real estate, and other industries. Over the last several years, DMJ has provided traditional accounting services with deeper practice areas, such as international tax consulting, litigation support, succession planning, audits, reviews, and other services.

DMJ offices are currently closed to outside visitors in accordance with state and federal guidelines. The firm has adopted work from home procedures and has continuance plans in place for workplace re-entry. The new office space will open to clients and visitors as soon as the firm is able to adapt to the new conditions.
