Harper & Whitfield, P.C., Announces Promotions and New Additions to the Firm
Farmington, CT based member firm HARPER & WHITFIELD,
P.C. announces the addition of two new employees and four promotions within the firm.
Beth W. Gosciminski, CPA has been promoted to
Supervisor. Beth joined the firm in 2002. Prior to joining the
firm, Beth worked for another CPAmerica firm in Maryland. She graduated
from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting.
Throughout her career, Beth has focused on tax services,
concentrating mainly on individuals and trusts. Beth is a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society
of Certified Public Accountants.
Ann L. Wesley, CPA, has been promoted to Supervisor. Ann serves on the
firm’s Accounting & Auditing Committee and works with a wide range of
privately held businesses and nonprofits in the firm’s accounting, audit, and
tax practices. Ann holds the CGMA designation and is a member of the
Connecticut and Washington State Societies of CPAs.
Rebecca B. Zappone, CPA has been promoted to
Director. Becky has been with the firm since 2008 serving as a
Manager. Becky focuses on tax planning and compliance for individuals and
closely held businesses and represents clients in IRS and state income tax
audits. She is involved in monitoring tax law changes and communicating
with staff and clients. She also assists in the development and
implementation of best practices for the Firm, including tax training for staff.
Becky is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
Connecticut Society of CPAs, and Town of Plymouth, CT, Retirement & Pension
Oversight Board, and serves on various school and community boards and organizations.
Mary Elizabeth Shutran, CPA has been promoted to
Director. Marybeth has been with the firm since 1984 and has served
as a Manager since June of 1988. She received her Bachelor of
Science in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University and a Master of
Business Administration from the University of Hartford.
Throughout her career, Marybeth has focused on audit, accounting
and tax work for clients in the service, distribution and manufacturing
industries and not-for-profit organizations. She has also worked on tax
compliance and planning for individual clients. Marybeth is a member of
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut
Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Patrick J. Paternostro has joined their firm as an
Experienced Senior Accountant. Patrick brings with him over twenty-five
years of diverse experience both in public and corporate accounting, including
Fortune 50 companies, national and Big Four accounting firms. Patrick
also owned and operated his own accounting and bookkeeping service for over ten
years while serving as the primary caregiver for his three children.
Patrick is a 1990 cum laude graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.
Throughout Patrick’s career he has focused on providing
extraordinary client service and a quality internal business product. In
every role, Patrick has worked to provide process improvements and
efficiencies, while always maintaining or improving internal controls. He
has served clients in various industries including environmental and nuclear
remediation services, chemical manufacturing as well as real estate
professionals, insurance agencies and physicians’ practices. Patrick has
also provided a vast array of federal, state and local tax related services to
businesses and individuals.
Beth A. Thurz, CPA has joined their firm as a
Director. Prior to joining the firm in February 2019, Beth was a VP
of Finance for a privately held manufacturing company and spent over 20 years
in public accounting with both regional and national accounting firms.
She has a BA from Wesleyan University and an MS in Accounting from the
University of Hartford.
Throughout her career Beth has provided a variety of
professional services, including tax planning and compliance, accounting
assistance, systems conversions, consulting, and due diligence projects. She
has serviced clients in a wide range of industries including manufacturing,
healthcare, non-profits, real estate and service businesses as well as
individuals and trusts.
