Two MCL CPAs to lead Young CPA Network 2019-20

RIDGELAND, Miss. – August 12, 2019 – Shannon Adams, CPA and Sammy Gill, CPA of the Ridgeland-based accounting firm of Matthews, Cutrer and Lindsay recently began a year of board service with the Mississippi Society of CPAs Young CPA Network. For the coming year, Adams will be at the helm serving as president.

The Young CPA Network is a group designed to help young MSCPA members establish connections with other aspiring professionals, exchange ideas and grow in their careers. Their first meeting for the 2019-2020 service year was held in July. Social events allow young members to connect with peers in a variety of ways throughout the year. The group also hosts an annual conference with continuing education credits. The Network actively promotes the CPA profession among accounting students.

“Volunteering my time comes from a love of the accounting profession, but the collaboration of all generations of CPAs offering a day of service each year is an annual highlight. The value I’ve found will be offered to all interested young CPAs. I am especially thrilled with the unprecedented committee-level involvement for the coming year,” said Adams.

Adams works as an audit manager at MCL and earned a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting from Delta State University. Now with over 10 years in public accounting service, she has developed expertise in the areas of auditing and small business consulting. She has extensive experience in working with nonprofit organizations. She previously represented MSCPA as their delegate for the Alabama Leadership Academy. She currently serves as the treasurer on the Board of Directors of CASA Mississippi, Inc. and as secretary of her local business networking group.
